Santa Maria Maddalena Church, Baroque church in central Lodi, Italy
The Santa Maria Maddalena Church features a single longitudinal nave with an ellipsoidal layout, complemented by symmetrically arranged niches and chapels on both sides.
The current structure, completed in 1719, stands on the site of an ancient Roman temple dedicated to Hercules and replaced a medieval church destroyed by fire in 1162.
The central dome displays frescoes by Carlo Innocenzo Carloni, created between 1752 and 1756, depicting The Glory of Saint Mary Magdalene and Theological Virtues.
The church maintains regular visiting hours and welcomes visitors who wish to observe its architectural details and religious artworks at via Maddalena in Lodi.
The double-octagon sacristy contains original wooden cupboards from the 18th century, designed by architect Giovanni Antonio Veneroni.
