Città Satellite, Amusement park in Italy
Città Satellite was a theme park in Limbiate, Italy, designed as a walkable miniature-city model with distinct themed districts. Visitors could move through different zones representing various aspects of urban life.
The park opened in 1985, designed by architect Cini Boeri, and introduced a fresh concept for amusement parks in Italy at that time. Its closure later ended this architectural experiment in leisure design.
The park reflected how Italians imagined leisure and urban planning should merge, with visitors moving through distinct themed zones as if exploring a mini-city.
Since the park is no longer operating, visitors can only see the architectural remains from outside or gather local information about its past. Research beforehand is necessary to understand which parts remain visible or accessible.
The site was more than just entertainment; it served as a laboratory for testing innovative urban design where architects could experiment with ideas about cities' futures. This made it an early example of merging architecture, planning, and public spaces.
