Castelsardo Cathedral

Castelsardo Cathedral is a church with a single nave, barrel-vaulted ceiling, side chapels, and a transept topped by a tall bell tower featuring a majolica dome. The interior includes a marble high altar that serves as the focal point of the building.

The structure was built in 1597 as a religious center in the Ampurias region. In the 19th century it underwent a change in ecclesiastical status following a diocesan reorganization.

The cathedral houses the Enthroned Madonna and Child, a significant 15th-century painting attributed to the Master of Castelsardo in its marble high altar.

The building sits in the historic center and is easy to reach from the old town. Keep in mind it remains an active place of worship, so visiting hours should be respected.
