The fortress features a polygonal layout surrounded by a deep moat protected by two caponiers accessible through internal tunnels and galleries.
The construction of the fort began in 1885 and continued until 1890, forming part of the military defense system protecting Lower Piedmont.
The fort represents a crucial element of the Altare defensive system, which included several structures like Tagliata di Altare, Tecci, and Cascinotto forts.
The fort stands at 745 meters above sea level and contains barracks in the moat area with artillery positions on the upper level.
The fortress housed four 12 GRC Ret cannons and four 15 GRC Ret cannons, positioned on external platforms for strategic defense purposes.
