Eremo di San Gallo, Mountain hermitage in Soligo, Italy
The hermitage complex consists of a small church with attached living quarters at the summit of San Gallo hill at 363 meters elevation.
Built in 1430 by Friar Egidio from Lombardy, the hermitage stands on the remains of a castle that served Belluno bishops until 1378.
The church houses a fresco from August 7, 1442, depicting the Madonna with Child and Saints, including Saint Gallo.
Visitors can reach the hermitage through a 4.9-kilometer trail starting from the Pro Loco parking lot in Via dei Colli at Farra di Soligo.
During Christmas season, the southern hillside features a 112-meter-tall Christmas tree illuminated by 950 white lights visible across Quartier del Piave.
