Grotte di San Michele, Archaeological cave complex in Ozieri, Italy.

The Grotte di San Michele features multiple interconnected caverns containing ancient rock formations, pottery fragments, and remnants of early settlements within limestone walls.

Archaeological excavations conducted in 1914 and 1949 revealed extensive evidence of human habitation, including burial sites and religious ceremonies from the Nuragic civilization.

The cave system served as both a dwelling space and ceremonial center where inhabitants conducted rituals, leaving behind numerous artifacts now displayed at Sassari's Museo Nazionale.

Visitors can access the caves from April through October between 10:00-13:00 and 15:00-18:00, while winter hours run from November through March 10:00-13:00 and 14:00-17:00.

The cave system maintains consistent temperature records from ancient times, preserving ceramic vessels, tools, and figurines in their original depositional context.
