Monte Bisbino, Mountain summit in Cernobbio, Italy.
Monte Bisbino is a mountain summit near Cernobbio, in the northern part of Lombardy, close to the Swiss border and part of the Gordona-Bisbino range. The top opens onto a broad plateau with views over Lake Como and the surrounding Alpine ridges.
A chapel has stood at the summit for centuries, originally built to serve the religious needs of the surrounding villages. Over time, a road was built to the top, opening the peak to a wider range of visitors beyond those who could make the full hike.
A small chapel at the top of Monte Bisbino is still used for religious gatherings, drawing pilgrims alongside hikers during the warmer months. Sharing the same path gives the place a layered feel, where devotion and leisure meet on the same trail.
A marked trail starts from Cernobbio's center, but those preferring a shorter walk can drive to the hamlet of Rovenna and set off from there. The summit is also reachable by road, so the view is accessible to those who do not hike.
The summit stands only about 650 feet (200 meters) from the Swiss border, making it possible to look out over two countries at the same time. This position puts Switzerland close enough that on a clear day the view clearly crosses into the neighboring territory.
