Monte Oserot, Mountain summit in Piedmont, Italy.

Monte Oserot is a mountain of the Cottian Alps on the watershed between the Stura di Demonte and Maira valleys, on the border of the municipalities of Argentera and Acceglio in the province of Cuneo. Its summit, around 2861 m, is built of Triassic dolomitic limestone and dolomite, with Carnian beds south of the lower peak known as the false Oserot (2761 m). The north-east side drops toward the Oserot lake, while the south-west ridge is sharply defined above the Stura valley.

The summit's top is made of Triassic dolomitic limestone and dolomite, while Carboniferous-Permian porphyrites and epidotites crop out between the peak and the Passo di Terra Rossa. Older maps, such as the IGM 1:25,000 series, labelled the lower false Oserot (2761 m) as Monte Oserot and left the true summit unnamed.

The mountain's name appears on maps in two different ways: older IGM 1:25,000 sheets label the lower northern summit (2761 m) as Monte Oserot and leave the true 2861 m summit unnamed, while the Valle Maira trail map gives both peaks the same name. Walkers crossing the Gardetta plateau or the Oserot pass can compare the two summits themselves.

The normal route climbs the south-east face: a faint path marked with faded red paint leaves just below Colle Oserot and leads to a gully south-east of the summit, then up the north-east ridge. Approaches start from Bersezio via Passo di Terra Rossa (trails P37 and P36 GTA), from Servagno (P35-P36 GTA), or from Valle Maira via Colle Oserot (S11 or S27) or Passo di Rocca Brancia (P35 GTA), with the Rifugio della Gardetta as a base. In winter the mountain is climbed on skis, with crampons and ice axe for the final gullies.

The summit lies on the watershed between the Stura di Demonte and Maira valleys, on the border of the municipalities of Argentera and Acceglio. Older maps, such as the IGM 1:25,000 sheet, label the lower secondary top, Monte Oserot falso (2,761 m), as Monte Oserot and leave the true summit unnamed. The IGC 1:25,000 sheet no. 112 instead gives the name to quota 2,861 m.
