Monte Pegherolo

Monte Pegherolo, Mountain peak in Bergamo Alps, Italy

Monte Pegherolo is a mountain peak in the Orobie Alps reaching 2,369 meters high, with sharp ridges and rocky slopes throughout its terrain. The ground becomes increasingly challenging as you climb higher toward the summit.

These passes have been used since medieval times as connections between valleys, helping local communities reach high mountain pastures. The routes have remained largely the same for centuries, following paths established long ago.

This peak holds meaning for regional climbers and hikers who come here to test themselves against its terrain. Local communities know the routes well and use them regularly to explore the high mountains.

The climb from the San Simone base takes about three and a half hours and requires climbing equipment for some sections. Good footwear and physical preparation are important to complete this route safely.

Several sections are equipped with metal chains for support, but many experienced climbers pass these areas without using the extra assistance. These chain additions were often added later to improve safety on the steeper portions.
