Palazzo Visconti, Mannerist town hall in Brignano Gera d'Adda, Italy

Palazzo Visconti is a manor house serving as town hall in Brignano Gera d'Adda with a grand entrance opening onto a spacious courtyard. Square columns and frescoed wall areas created by Meda in 1675 define this interior space.

In 1186, Emperor Frederick I of Swabia granted the fiefdom of Brignano and this palace to the Milanese Visconti family. This transfer established the family's long connection to the building and the region.

Inside, you can see artistic scenes of Hercules and classical statues representing Nobility, Intelligence, and Generosity displayed in the municipal rooms. These images tell visitors about the values the Visconti family wanted to show to everyone who entered.

The building houses municipal offices open during regular business hours for administrative services. Guided visits can be arranged through the local Pro Loco organization to learn more about the palace and its decorations.

Francesco Bernardino Visconti, a family member connected to this palace, inspired the character of Innominato in Alessandro Manzoni's famous novel. This literary connection makes the building significant for readers familiar with this classic Italian work.
