Palazzo Ducale, Renaissance palace in Massa, Italy
The Palazzo Ducale features red and white marble facades with a central courtyard surrounded by columns and decorative marble portals.
Prince Alberico I Cybo-Malaspina initiated the construction between 1567 and 1570, transforming an old residence into a palace to establish his principality.
The palace contains the Grotta del Nettuno, decorated with a marble statue of Neptune rising above three dolphins crafted from Carrara marble.
The building currently houses government offices of the Prefecture and Province, with its main entrance located in Piazza Aranci.
The palace underwent modifications by Teresa Pamphilj, who added 100 marble columns and commissioned Alessandro Bergamini to harmonize the main facade.
