Palazzo Ferro Fini, Renaissance palace in San Marco, Venice
Palazzo Ferro Fini is a palace on the north bank of the Grand Canal, facing the Church of Santa Maria della Salute between Accademia Bridge and St Mark's Square. The building combines two original structures and today serves as the seat of the Regional Council of Veneto.
The building originated from the merger of two separate palaces, Palazzo Morosini Ferro and Palazzo Flangini Fini, in the 1860s. After this union, it first served as the Hotel New York before later becoming the seat of the Regional Council.
The palace reflects Venice's architectural evolution, combining Gothic elements in the Ferro section with Renaissance features in the Fini portion. This layering of different styles is visible on the facade today.
The building houses official chambers and opens to visitors during certain cultural events and public sessions. Plan ahead, as access varies depending on government activities.
In 2019, floodwaters entered the council chambers shortly after the Regional Council rejected measures for climate prevention. This moment highlighted the escalating challenges facing the city.
