Punta Rossa della Grivola, Mountain summit in Gran Paradiso National Park, Italy
Punta Rossa della Grivola is a mountain summit within the Gran Paradiso Massif, rising to approximately 3,600 meters and featuring glaciated northern slopes. The peak displays steep rock walls and more weathered terrain on its southern face.
The peak was first summited in 1864 by a mountaineering expedition. Since then it has become a recognized objective for experienced alpinists visiting the area.
The mountain forms part of a distinct three-peak formation with Punta Nera and Punta Bianca, representing the geographical heritage of the Aosta Valley region.
To reach this summit you will need mountaineering gear such as ice axes and crampons due to steep snow and rock sections. Starting points for the ascent are located near the town of Cogne and surrounding hamlets.
The Grivola forms a distinctive three-peak grouping with neighboring summits, allowing views into three separate valleys at once. This location provides a panoramic vantage point across multiple Alpine valleys simultaneously.
