Santuario di Nostra Signora della Guardia

The stone structure sits at the border of Maissana municipality along Provincial Road 523, connecting Petronio Valley with Val di Vara.

Construction of the shrine began in the 19th century under architect Maurizio Dufour, who designed numerous buildings across Genoa and Liguria.

The wooden statue of Madonna della Guardia, created by sculptor Antonio Canepa in 1892, drew significant attention from Genoese worshippers.

The shrine contains a pipe organ built by Mascioni in 1925, featuring two manuals and multiple registers, with expansions added in 1973.

The bell tower houses four bells tuned to F3 scale, with two larger bells bearing bullet holes from World War II conflicts.
