Military shrine of Asiago

The military shrine on Leiten Hill is a large stone structure with a square base and four identical sides topped by a central columned hall. Inside, long galleries line the walls with names inscribed in small individual chambers.

The structure was completed in the 1930s as a deliberate effort to honor the many soldiers who died in the mountain battles of World War I. The architect created a space that acknowledged both sides of the conflict.
