Rifugio Lecco, Mountain hut in Piani di Bobbio, Italy.
The Rifugio Lecco is a mountain hut located in the Piani di Bobbio at roughly 1779 meters elevation, where hikers and mountaineers can stay overnight and dine. The facility provides about 24 sleeping places and a dining room that can accommodate some 70 guests at once.
The Rifugio Lecco was founded in 1910 and has housed climbers and hikers in the Prealpi Bergamasche ever since. The hut is therefore one of the older mountain shelters in the region with more than a century of history behind it.
The Rifugio Lecco brings hikers and mountaineers together at shared dining tables where regional specialties and local wines are served. Visitors experience a communal way of eating that is typical of mountain huts and creates connections between people from different places.
At the Rifugio Lecco, visitors should bring their own bed linens, though the hut provides duvets and accepts payment by card at the ATM. Cell phone reception works here despite the remote location, making it possible to stay in touch from this height.
The Rifugio Lecco offers both indoor and outdoor dining spaces where guests can enjoy meals in the open air when weather permits. This dual setup is rather unusual for mountain huts at this elevation and makes stays more flexible.
