Rifugio Sette Selle, Mountain hut in Palù del Fersina, Italy
Rifugio Sette Selle is a mountain hut at 1978 meters elevation in the upper Valle dei Mocheni, accommodating 35 guests with a restaurant offering mountain views. The shelter features basic rooms and a shared dining area where traditional local dishes are served.
The refuge was built in 1975 by climbers from SAT Pergine on the foundations of a World War I military structure. Construction materials were carried on foot up the mountain across four seasons to establish this remote shelter.
The refuge sits in the heart of Valle dei Mocheni, where residents speak their own language shaped by Middle High German influences. Visitors can experience this local tradition by interacting with staff and observing how the valley community maintains its heritage.
Access begins at Frotten parking area, following path 343 through meadows and forests. The hike takes about 90 minutes and offers moderate difficulty for most visitors.
From the refuge, visitors can choose between two routes to Lake Erdemolo: an upper path taking 3.5 hours or a lower path taking about 2 hours. This flexibility allows hikers to adjust their exploration based on time and preference.
