Stazione dell'arte, Museum of modern art in Ulassai, Italy.
Stazione dell'Arte occupies three separate buildings within a former railway station, with exhibition halls, administrative offices, and a library. The spaces display modern art works across interconnected rooms adapted from the original station structure.
The building served as the terminal station for a railway line running to Arbatax until rail service ended in 1956. It was converted and reopened as an art museum in 2006.
The collection centers on Maria Lai, a local artist whose work and life remained deeply connected to Ulassai and its community. Her pieces reflect personal stories and artistic explorations rooted in this place.
The museum welcomes visitors Tuesday through Sunday from 09:30 to 19:30, with wheelchair access throughout all exhibition areas. The interconnected gallery spaces allow easy movement between different sections of the collection.
The grounds feature a large lawn that transforms into an open-air theater space for performances during summer months. This seasonal use adds another cultural dimension to the site beyond its gallery function.
