Torre Pontina is a mixed-use skyscraper in the city center of Latina, in the Lazio region of Italy. The glass and steel tower has 37 floors and holds both office spaces and residential units.
Construction of Torre Pontina began in 2007, when the site and the tower footprint were excavated. Its foundations rest on 136 iron piles driven 40 metres into the ground, carrying a 40 by 40 metre slab. The tower was designed by architect Lodovico Risoli, with the superstructure engineered by Massimo Guerrini and Luciano Gioacchini of SBG & Partners in Rome. In 2021 the fire brigade suspended use of the underground garages over missing fire-prevention requirements; they later reopened.
Torre Pontina is the tallest building in Latina and draws the eye from almost anywhere in the city. For locals, it has become a reference point that marks the newer, commercial side of the urban center.
The tower stands next to a large shopping center and is easy to reach by road or public transport. The area around it has shops, restaurants, and other services within a short walk.
The tower rests on 136 iron piles driven 40 metres into the ground, carrying a 40 by 40 metre foundation slab. At night, rows of blue lights run up the facade to the tip of the 23-metre antenna, so the outline stays visible from far across the plain.
