Torre Pontina, Commercial skyscraper in Latina, Italy
Torre Pontina is a mixed-use skyscraper in the city center of Latina, in the Lazio region of Italy. The glass and steel tower has 37 floors and holds both office spaces and residential units.
Torre Pontina was built between 2007 and 2010 and was one of the most ambitious construction projects in the city's history. It rose during a period when Latina was upgrading its urban core and developing new commercial areas.
Torre Pontina is the tallest building in Latina and draws the eye from almost anywhere in the city. For locals, it has become a reference point that marks the newer, commercial side of the urban center.
The tower stands next to a large shopping center and is easy to reach by road or public transport. The area around it has shops, restaurants, and other services within a short walk.
Although Lazio is a seismically active area, Torre Pontina was built with an earthquake-resistant structure that is not visible from the outside. This engineering is embedded in the foundations and load-bearing frame, making it more resistant to ground movement than many older buildings nearby.
