Terme Tettuccio, Art Nouveau thermal spa in Montecatini Terme, Italy
Terme Tettuccio is a thermal spa complex in Montecatini Terme featuring ornate halls, columns, and frescoes decorated with marble throughout the interior spaces. The building displays the grandeur of Italian architecture and contains several mineral water sources for therapeutic use.
The complex was built between 1779 and 1781 as one of the early thermal spa projects in the region. A major renovation in 1928 gave the building its present appearance and current architectural form.
The spa has always been a place where people gather to drink the mineral water and spend time together in a social setting. The rituals connected to the thermal waters are part of the daily experience for visitors and shape how the place is used.
The grounds are laid out so visitors can easily walk between the different water sources and access various treatments throughout the complex. Plan to spend time there and wear comfortable clothes, as you will be moving between different halls and outdoor areas.
The mineral water comes from underground sources about 60 to 80 meters deep that naturally rise to the surface at this location. This natural circulation allows the water to maintain its therapeutic properties as it flows through different parts of the spa.
