Tirivolo

Tirivolo is a mountain village in the Sila Piccola region, sitting at about 1580 meters elevation among forest terrain with wooden chalets and a renovated wooden lodge. The buildings are spread throughout the wooded landscape, offering simple accommodations nestled in nature.

The village began in the 1930s as a rest point for forestry workers and charcoal makers operating in the Calabrian mountains. After World War II, the site was gradually transformed into a tourist destination through private development.

The Grechi family transformed this former workers' settlement into a tourist destination during the post-war period, maintaining its wooden architectural elements.

The village sits at high elevation on mountain roads and has minimal local services, so visitors should bring what they need. Outdoor activities like hiking, horseback riding, and mountain biking can be arranged on site, and the area's adventure park is worth exploring.

The air quality here is among the cleanest measured in Europe, making it exceptional among inhabited places. A permanent population of just five residents gives the village an unusually remote and quiet character.
