Basilica inferiore

Basilica inferiore is a Catholic church in Cascia designed with a Greek cross floor plan and featuring a white travertine facade. The interior spaces contain detailed frescoes and artworks created by multiple artists over the course of its construction.

Construction began in 1937 and was completed in 1947, after which the church received minor basilica status in 1955. This building period reflected a particular moment in Italian architecture and religious construction.

The lower chambers display scenes from Saint Rita's life through artistic works by various Italian masters whose creations tell her story in a way visitors can follow as they move through the space.
