Castle Hochnaturns, Medieval castle in Naturns, Italy
Castle Hochnaturns rises on elevated ground with stone walls, multiple stately rooms, and decorated interiors featuring coffered ceilings and paneled surfaces.
The ministers of the Counts of Tyrol constructed this defensive structure during the 13th century, establishing a strategic position above the surrounding territory.
The castle chambers contain numerous medieval furnishings, painted decorations, and tiled stoves that represent the architectural styles of South Tyrol.
The property changed ownership in 2022 to two local families from Naturns and currently does not allow public access for preservation purposes.
From 1952 until 1992, the castle operated as a hotel under the Mastropaolo family before closing its commercial activities.
