Saint Zeno church is a Catholic place of worship located near the center of Naturno in northern Italy. Its stone walls, pitched roof, and tall bell tower with an onion-shaped top give the building a steady presence that matches the surrounding mountain landscape.
The site began in the ninth century with a small wooden church built under Carolingian rule. That first structure was replaced by a stone church in the twelfth or thirteenth century, and later the altar area was redone in a baroque style during the 1700s.
A small pointed arch door and a round opening above it mark the main entrance, while a second, smaller door serves daily entry. On the outer walls, faint paintings from the 1500s still show scenes from the lives of saints, visible to anyone who walks slowly around the building.
The church faces south, so morning and midday light fill the interior naturally. The stone construction keeps the space cool during warm months and holds warmth when the weather turns cold.
Thick walls hide traces of older windows and structures, visible as closed openings and uneven lines in the stone. Small memorial plaques attached to the outside walls remember local families and early priests who served here.
