Parco della Collina di San Colombano, Nature reserve in Borghetto Lodigiano, Italy
Parco della Collina di San Colombano is a nature reserve in Borghetto Lodigiano with oak woodlands, vineyard-covered slopes, and wide views across the Po Valley. The land encompasses forest patches, cultivated hillsides, and grassland areas across multiple municipalities.
The protected area was established by the Province of Milan in 2002 and then expanded in 2008 to include territories from Lodi and Pavia provinces. This expansion created a connected reserve spanning multiple administrative boundaries.
The reserve contains 293 agricultural companies managing densely planted vineyards that produce certified IGT and DOC table wines across 35 percent of its territory.
The reserve is accessible via unpaved tracks and local paths suitable for walking and mountain biking. Visitors should expect uneven terrain and varied elevation changes, especially on the higher sections.
The Graffignana Forest preserves rare warm-weather vegetation and traditional chestnut management practices uncommon in the surrounding lowland. These woodlands showcase historical forest methods still in use today in this specific area.
