Santuario di Santa Maria della Bassanella, Religious sanctuary in Soave, Italy
The Santuario di Santa Maria della Bassanella stands in Borgo Bassano with a north-facing facade overlooking the Val Tramigna valley.
The temple received its consecration in 1098 and remained under the jurisdiction of Benedictine monks from the Saints Nazaro and Celso monastery in Verona.
The interior displays 14th-century frescoes depicting Saint Benedict, Saint Scholastica, Saint Christopher, and Saint Lawrence, the patron of Soave.
Visitors can access the sanctuary and follow a path with 15 Stations of the Cross, marked by stone steles and bas-reliefs leading to Valle Ponsara.
The sanctuary holds a statue of the Virgin and Child, discovered in Valle Ponsara following a reported Marian apparition in the area.
