Borgia Castle, Medieval castle in Squillace, Italy

The fortification features two distinct towers, a cylindrical and a polygonal one, with the Borgia family coat of arms at the main entrance.

Originally built by Normans in 1044 on monastery ruins, the castle became a significant stronghold during the Borgia family rule from 1494 to 1735.

The castle functions as a military museum, displaying archaeological findings and historical artifacts that document the regional heritage of Calabria.

Located at Piazza Castello in Squillace, the castle receives approximately 1500 visitors annually and maintains regular opening hours for public access.

During renovations in 1994, workers discovered two intertwined skeletons dating from the 13th or 14th century in the polygonal tower.
