Visconti-Castelbarco Castle, Medieval castle in Cislago, Italy.
This fortress features a U-shaped layout with corner towers and a crenellated roofline characteristic of medieval military design. The two towers flank the courtyard while the notched roof edge dominates the front facade.
The fortress dates to the 10th century and passed to the Visconti family during the 13th century. A marriage alliance later transferred it to the Castelbarco family.
The name reflects the two noble families who shaped the castle across generations. Visitors can see today how the structure preserves the legacy of these families in its form.
The castle remains private property, but visitors can access the public Giardino Castelbarco park situated on the grounds. The park allows you to view the exterior from different angles and explore the surrounding landscape.
The structure suffered destruction in the 17th century but was rebuilt while respecting the original foundation. The restoration brought baroque elements into the design, adding a new aesthetic layer to the medieval core.
