Villa Alari, Cernusco sul Naviglio

Villa Alari is a three-story noble residence in Cernusco sul Naviglio with vaulted ceilings and wall decorations made from gilded plaster and painted designs throughout its rooms. The building displays carefully crafted interiors, though the public can view it mainly from the outside.

The building was constructed in the 1770s and served briefly as a royal residence while a larger palace project was underway nearby. This period was important to the house's past, showing how it functioned as a temporary official dwelling.

The rooms inside display mythological subjects that artists of the time created with great care in painted form. Visitors walking around the exterior can notice traces of this artistic decoration on the facades and in glimpses through windows.

The house is located on Via Camillo Benso di Cavour and can be viewed from the surrounding pathways, though entry inside is not available. It is best to visit the villa earlier in the day when light illuminates the facade and visible decorations most clearly.

The original garden was laid out in the French manner with geometric shapes, fountains, and a large pond, of which only traces remain today. This garden design shows how noble houses of that time connected with the landscape around them.
