Castle of Golaso, Medieval castle in Varsi, Italy

The castle stretches across 5000 square meters and features two internal courtyards, with a south-facing entrance wing and a central chapel in the west wing.

The fortress underwent major transformations during the 16th and 17th centuries, evolving from a defensive structure into a Renaissance manor house for agricultural purposes.

The castle belonged to the Rugarli counts until 1805, when Napoleon abolished feudal rights in the Duchy of Parma and Piacenza.

Visitors can access the castle through Via Golaso, with clear directional signs marking the path to this national heritage site in the Varsi region.

The castle incorporates numerical elements that mirror the calendar: 12 staircases representing months, 30 doors for days, and 365 windows for each day of the year.
