Equestrian statue of Carlo Alberto

The monument features King Carlo Alberto mounted on horseback, wearing Roman senator attire, cast in bronze at a height of 468 centimeters.

The statue commemorates Carlo Alberto's restoration of the Senate of Casale Monferrato, the highest judicial authority of Monferrato, through an edict issued in 1837.

Created by sculptor Abbondio Sangiorgio in 1843, the monument reflects the artistic traditions of Italian bronze casting and public commemorative art.

The statue stands in the central Piazza Mazzini, with a granite pedestal measuring 7.90 meters in length and weighing 25 tons.

The bronze alloy composition includes eighteen parts zinc, three and three-quarters parts tin, with copper comprising the remainder, totaling 8 tons.
