Nostra Signora del Rimedio

Nostra Signora del Rimedio is a shrine located at the entrance to Orosei town, distinguished by a large square surrounded by numerous stone buildings. These traditional structures were built specifically to house pilgrims and visitors during festival periods.

The shrine was founded during the Renaissance and underwent major transformations during the 19th century. The architecture today still bears traces of these different construction phases.

The sanctuary is the focal point of a major September celebration where traditional Sardinian music and religious ceremonies come together each year.

The site offers adequate lodging in the traditional houses surrounding the square, especially during the September celebrations. Access is straightforward since the shrine sits directly at the town entrance and is easy to reach.

The shrine inspired Italian writer Grazia Deledda, who described the festival in one of her celebrated novels. This literary connection makes the place particularly interesting for book lovers visiting the region.
