The Nostra Signora del Rimedio sanctuary stands at the entrance of Orosei town, surrounded by traditional pilgrim houses called cumbessias.
The sanctuary construction began in the 1500s, with significant renovations and expansions completed during the late nineteenth century.
The sanctuary hosts an 18-day festival starting the first Friday of September, featuring religious ceremonies and traditional Sardinian music performances.
Eighty accommodation units around the church square provide lodging for families and pilgrims during the September celebrations.
The sanctuary celebration inspired Italian writer Grazia Deledda, who included the festival setting in her novel Canne al Vento.
