Austro-Hungarian military cemetery of Bruneck

The Austro-Hungarian military cemetery of Bruneck is a burial ground in this South Tyrolean city with wooden grave markers set in orderly rows. The site occupies a defined area with views toward the surrounding mountains and is approached by a clearly marked pathway.

The cemetery was established in 1915 during World War I as a burial site for soldiers from multiple field hospitals in the region. More than 800 soldiers from various armies found their final resting place here.

The cemetery grounds are regularly maintained by women from the local Red Cross committee who volunteer their time to care for the site. Their ongoing work ensures that the wooden markers and the entire place remain respectfully preserved for visitors.
