Church of Saint Olivia, Catholic church in Alcamo, Italy

The Church of Saint Olivia is a Catholic church building in Alcamo featuring two bronze portals carved with biblical scenes. Inside are polychrome marble altars handcrafted by sculptors Mariano and Simone Pennino.

The building was founded in 1533 and originally had a Gothic-Catalan design. It underwent major reconstruction in 1724 under architect Giovanni Biagio Amico, who reshaped it into a single-nave basilica.

The marble statue of Saint Olivia created by Antonello Gagini in 1511 stands prominently in the interior. It serves as a focal point for local devotion and draws visitors interested in Renaissance sculptural craftsmanship.

The church remains active and open for visitors during regular hours under Roman Catholic management. Check ahead to see if any religious services are scheduled, as this may affect access or the visiting experience.

A fire in 1987 destroyed the ceiling, prompting extensive restoration work overseen by Sicily's Cultural Heritage Department. This recovery preserved important details of the interior that might otherwise have been lost.
