Altar of Saturn, Religious altar in Roman Forum, Italy.

The rectangular altar measures 3.95 by 2.8 meters and features stone blocks of tuff with channels designed for drainage during ceremonies.

Italian archaeologist Rodolfo Lanciani discovered the remains of this sixth-century BCE altar during excavations conducted in 1902 near the Temple of Saturn.

The altar served as a central location for religious ceremonies where priests performed animal sacrifices and examined entrails to determine divine approval.

The surface contains drainage channels and a Tufa slab system that directed fluids from ceremonial activities away from the sacred space.

The altar retains traces of red paint on its surface, indicating attempts to maintain and repair the structure throughout different periods.
