Terme Berzieri

Terme Berzieri is a spa facility in Salsomaggiore Terme that combines Art Nouveau and Art Deco architectural styles in a spacious building complex. The structure features detailed ceramic work that decorates both the exterior and interior spaces, creating its distinctive appearance.

Doctor Lorenzo Berzieri began researching the local salt waters in 1836 and recognized their therapeutic value. His work transformed the region from a salt production center into a thermal bath destination, leading to the creation of this facility.

The ceramic decorations on the facade blend European and Asian artistic traditions, a choice made by architect Galileo Chini when designing the building. Walking through the spaces, you notice how these influences create a distinctive visual character throughout.

The facility is easy to reach on foot and well signposted, with information panels at the entrance. Visitors should wear comfortable shoes and allow time to explore, as the grounds are spacious and include several areas to discover.

Water is extracted from deep wells beneath the grounds and contains high salt concentration that enables therapeutic treatments. This natural source remains the core of the facility and sets it apart from other spa destinations in the region.
