Diga del Panperduto, Water management system in Somma Lombardo, Italy.

The Panperduto Dam spans 700 meters in length and contains a basin varying from 50 to 90 meters wide, featuring spillways and intake structures.

Engineers Eugenio Villoresi and Luigi Meraviglia designed this hydraulic infrastructure between 1862 and 1884, marking a revolution in regional water management.

The dam houses a museum dedicated to Italian-Swiss water management, presenting the evolution of hydraulic engineering through educational exhibitions.

Located near Malpensa Airport, the dam channels water from the Ticino River into two main canals serving agricultural irrigation and electricity production.

The navigable basin allows visitors to observe the operational mechanisms while the structure provides irrigation for over 100,000 hectares of surrounding land.
