Ponte romano, Roman bridge in Porto Torres, Italy

The bridge spans 135 meters across Rio Mannu river with seven arches constructed from limestone and trachyte materials in precise Roman engineering style.

During the Imperial period, this structure connected the ancient city of Turris Libisonis to the wheat fields of Nurra and the Argentiera mines.

The bridge features two niches between its arches that contained statues of river deities, including a relief depicting scenes related to Dionysus.

Visitors can access guided tours through TURRIS Bisleonis cooperative for 3 euros per person, with reservations required for group visits.

A wooden elevated walkway runs along the entire bridge length to protect the original Roman trachyte pavement while allowing pedestrian access.
