Gela acropolis, Ancient Greek archaeological site in Gela, Italy.

The archaeological complex features remnants of temples, houses, shops, and streets arranged according to the Hippodamian urban planning system.

The acropolis, founded by Greek colonists from Rhodes and Crete around 688 BC, contained the Temple of Athena Lindia built in the 7th century BC.

The excavated structures and artifacts demonstrate the advanced architectural methods and religious practices of the Greek settlers in ancient Sicily.

The archaeological park includes informative panels explaining the significance of different structures and their roles in ancient Greek society.

The acropolis contains preserved sun-dried brick fortifications from the 4th century BC, representing an uncommon construction technique for that period.
