Art Aia-Creatives / In / Residence, International art residency in Sesto al Reghena, Italy
Art Aia-Creatives / In / Residence is a creative residency center in Sesto al Reghena, in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region, housed in a former agricultural building. The program welcomes individual artists and collectives from different fields, who come here for a set period to work and carry out research.
The building dates to the 18th century and was used by both the Abbey of Santa Maria in Sylvis and the noble Bion family from Padua. It served as a working farm for many decades before being converted into a space for artistic production.
The name "Aia" refers to the old threshing floor that once occupied the courtyard, and this agricultural past is still visible in the layout of the space. Visitors can see how artists today use these open areas for installations and shared work.
A visit pairs well with a walk through the historic center of Sesto al Reghena, which is reachable on foot. It is worth checking in advance whether a residency is running during your visit, as activity on site varies depending on the program cycle.
The center is linked to a partner program in Berlin called La Dolce Berlin, where artists also produce films and carry out their work. This connection makes it one of the few rural residency projects in Italy with an active counterpart in a major European city.
