Madonna dell'Ambro sanctuary

The Madonna dell'Ambro sanctuary stands at 683 meters above sea level along the Ambro torrent, enclosed by the rock formations of Sibillini Mountains.

Built in the early 11th century as the Church of Santa Maria in Amaro, the sanctuary expanded in the 1600s under the direction of architect Ventura Venturi.

The sanctuary holds the distinction of being the second most important religious site in the Marche region, following the sanctuary of Loreto.

The sanctuary underwent extensive restoration using specialized materials and techniques after sustaining structural damage during the 2016 earthquake.

The building incorporates six lateral chapels alongside the main church aisle, preserving elements from both medieval and 17th-century construction periods.
