Santa Maria in Bressanoro

Santa Maria in Bressanoro is a church in Castelleone featuring an octagonal central dome and four smaller cupolas arranged in a Greek cross layout. Terracotta decorations cover the exterior and contribute to the building's unified artistic appearance.

Construction began between 1460 and 1465 under the patronage of Bianca Maria Visconti, establishing a new religious center in the former Duchy of Milan. A Portuguese nobleman founded the sanctuary after his conversion to Catholicism, shaping its early purpose.
