Samonà Castle

The fortified building spans 1,162 square meters and contains military artifacts displayed across multiple exhibition rooms within its stone walls.

The structure began as a coastal watchtower in the late 15th century and expanded into a castle with angular bastions for artillery by the 17th century.

The castle houses collections documenting the military history of Sicily, presenting weapons, uniforms, and strategic defense plans from different periods.

The castle receives 4,500 visitors annually and provides guided tours through its exhibitions, with access from Piazza Vittorio Emanuele III.

A network of underground passages connects this castle to the Castle of Venetico, enabling historical movement of soldiers between the fortifications.
