Castello di Venetico

The castle features a trapezoidal layout with circular towers at each corner, situated on a hilltop overlooking the Tyrrhenian coast.

Built in the 15th century by the Spadafora family, the castle suffered damage during the 1908 Messina earthquake but underwent restoration in 1920 and 1958.

The fortress included a chapel with a Sovereign Order of Malta cross and contained medieval stone portals that reflected the nobility of its residents.

The castle maintains its defensive walls, two towers in good condition, and patrol walkways, with evidence of former residential spaces on the northwest side.

The structure contains wide embrasures for muskets and specialized placements for heavy artillery near the corner towers.
