Our Lady of Loreto church, Catholic sanctuary in Villazzano, Italy

Our Lady of Loreto church is a stone building located on a hillside in Villazzano near Trento, constructed with a rectangular plan and a bell tower. The interior contains religious artwork and objects that depict scenes from the Virgin Mary's life.

The chapel was founded in 1623 by the nobleman Giovanni Paolo Ciurletti di Belfonte, a member of the Lauretan cult, and remained under the patronage of the Ciurletti Belfonte family until 1892. After the male line died out, the church and its assets passed to the diocesan curia and in 1894 to the Fabbriceria of Villazzano, represented by the parish priest Don Arturo Iob. Paolo Ciurletti also erected a similar temple dedicated to the Madonna di Loreto in Salzburg.

This sanctuary is dedicated to the Virgin Mary of Loreto, a figure with deep meaning in Catholic faith. The local community gathers here for worship and prayer, especially on feast days honoring this saint.

The church is open daily for visitors and worshippers, with parking available near the building. It is helpful to check service times in advance and be aware that special ceremonies may affect visiting hours.

The east-facing window casts light on the interior surfaces at sunrise, creating special illumination of the paintings inside. This natural lighting changes with the seasons and gives the space different qualities throughout the year.
