Palazzo del Governatorato, Government palace in Lido di Ostia Levante, Rome, Italy.
The Palazzo del Governatorato stands as a three-story eclectic architecture building constructed with Tivoli travertine and golden tuff from the Roman countryside, featuring two distinctive towers and a central courtyard with decorative elements.
Built between 1924 and 1928 by architect Vincenzo Fasolo, the palace had its cornerstone laid on August 10, 1924, in the presence of Cardinal Vincenzo Vannutelli and Benito Mussolini during the fascist era urban development.
The building showcases mythological Roman decorative motifs created by Umberto Calzolari in 1926, while interior decorations completed between 1933 and 1937 feature symbolic elements that celebrate ancient Roman culture and heritage.
Currently serving as the seat of Rome's Municipio X, the palace is accessible via Lido di Ostia Centro station and several bus stops including Stazione Vecchia, providing essential administrative services to local residents.
The palace entrance features a replica of the Winged Victory statue, one of the first archaeological discoveries from ancient Ostia, now preserved in the local archaeological museum while serving as an architectural centerpiece.
