Castello di Montecchio Vesponi

Castello di Montecchio Vesponi is a fortress located in the small settlement of Montecchio Vesponi near Castiglion Fiorentino. The complex features a square tower and defensive walls studded with guard towers that form an interconnected fortification.

The fortress first appeared in records in 1014 when Emperor Henry II granted it to the Benedictine abbey of Farneta. Over the following centuries, the structure developed and was shaped by the changing military needs of the region.
