Classis Ravenna - Museo della Città e del Territorio

Classis Ravenna is a museum housed in a converted industrial building with around 2600 square meters of exhibition space in Ravenna. The site includes a park of about one-and-a-half hectares surrounding the main structure.

The museum documents Ravenna's history from early Etruscan times through the Medieval period, with emphasis on the Roman era. The city served as an important port and trading center during this time, which shaped its development.

The exhibits show how people in Ravenna lived and worked across different periods. You can see the traces that various civilizations left behind and how they shaped daily life in the city.

Full wheelchair accessibility is available throughout the entire facility for visitors with mobility needs. Early morning or weekday visits tend to be less crowded and allow for a more comfortable experience.

The museum won the Premio Riccardo Francovich award in 2021 for its work in archaeological research. This recognition highlighted its importance in preserving cultural heritage for future generations.
