Chiesa di San Secondo

The chiesa di San Secondo is a Romanesque church featuring a three-nave interior that ends in three semicircular apses. Gothic vaulted ceilings were added in later periods and now define the overall appearance of the space.

This church was built on a hilltop during medieval times and stands as one of the most notable Romanesque buildings in the Asti region. Over the centuries, the structure underwent changes, particularly with the addition of Gothic elements that expanded its original form.

Access to the church requires a key, which you can obtain from the Fiore family at the last house on the right as you approach the building. It helps to inquire ahead since the family manages access times.

The outer walls feature a distinctive pattern with triangular 'wolf teeth' ornaments combined with a checkerboard pattern and continuous small arches that create special decoration. This type of ornamentation is uncommon and makes the building instantly recognizable from outside.
