Tall Zira'a

Tall Zira'a is an archaeological tell in Wadi al-Arab that rises noticeably above the surrounding landscape. The site is layered with remains from different periods of human settlement stacked one above the other.

Settlement began in the Early Bronze Age and continued for thousands of years into the Islamic period. Different civilizations occupied this location one after another throughout this long span of time.

The excavations show how Syrian and Palestinian cultural influences met and mixed at this location. Objects found here reflect how different peoples shaped this place over many centuries.

The site sits in a remote valley and is best explored on foot at your own pace. Visit during cooler months since the valley gets very hot in summer.

A natural spring at the center of the tell provided water to residents across thousands of years. This reliable water source made the location especially favorable for long-term human settlement.
